It really got to me how the whole deal of having famous people to promote things when I was serving this customer earlier on (yep, I'm back to the same place, old outlet for the extra cash).

She is like those girls where with one glance you can tell that she's still in secondary school (sorry, you can ignore my stereotyping here) and in the outlet just for one reason - Getting the notebook where her idols are printed on the cover of it.

Let me just talk a little about the notebook. The notebook is actually a scheduler, which I really find the contents to be really useful and pretty. The cover is actually just a piece of paper of which the group that is promoting for the company, with a clear plastic holder protecting the A5 sized scheduler. And it can be attained as a free gift when anyone purchased over 80 bux in the store.

She came into the store, with the notebook in hand. I thought that she didn't know that it can only be attained as a free gift with the thought that she might want to pay for just the notebook. She looked at me after my explanation and told me that she understood and her mother joined her shortly, saying: Go. Go and see what you want.

So I tried my best in terms of explaining and promoting further. And throughout the entire process, the mother was genuinely interested in the things she picked out, with the girl trailing behind her, looking bored, super uninspired and of course, clutching onto the notebook as if her hand would drop off if the notebook were to fall somewhere, somehow.

So the bill chalked up to an amount which allowed the notebook to be the girl's possession, and with the promotion going on, I threw in the file that's also a free gift. Here comes the bargaining - "Can we have two? Why cannot have two? Let us have both lah. You cannot give meh?"
At that moment, I really regretted following with all that promotion ideas that the company have set. Those ideas were out to destroy the staffs' patience. =.= Not to mention that I was trying my best not to overreact just cause I have a major splitting headache to attend to, at the very same moment. Ugh.

The girl, of course, was super happy that she got the notebook that she wanted. Not that I am in any position to complain since they were the ones who gave me commission due to the amount that they paid for the items under my hand, but the whole process got me thinking.

What if the notebook contents were bullshit, made with the lowest quality possible? There will always be people like this, being the ever so supportive fans of theirs, no? I am not against the idea of supporting idols, but to be really honest, spending 80 bux on something you wouldn't use (for the case of this customer) just for one item that is not being used by the idols themselves, but only taking a picture of them and have it plastered on piece of waxed paper. The whole idea of it is too ridiculous to me, and I can easily print out any pictures of my idols and produce the same thing with a 2dollars worth of notebook.

But then again, please let me know if anyone wants to make any purchase for the notebook - Commission is guaranteed for me with customers like this.

I can only say, it's really a genius idea for bringing sales into the company.
Need to catch some shut eye for now.
